About BRAUD & QUENNESSON
The history of the Braud & Quennesson distillery dates back to the end of the 19th century. In 1869, Joseph Quennesson, a sugar producer at Habitation Grand-Fonds, in Marin, in the south of Martinique, joined forces with his nephew, Charles Jean Braud. Their operation quickly established itself as one of the most modern and efficient on Martinique. The molasses is then transformed into rum. The company came to an abrupt end, like the entire sugar industry in Martinique at the end of the 1960s with a global sugar crisis, notably a consequence of the rise of beet sugar.
After more than half a century of silence, the Braud & Quennesson company is reborn on November 23, 2022 on the Habitation Grand-Fonds site. But this time, there is no question of a sugar factory but only Agricole Rhum AOC Martinique, made from pure sugar cane juice.
