The production of rum in Nicaragua begins, like its neighboring countries, rather late at the end of the 19th century, with the Pellas family at the foot of the San Cristobal volcano who started cultivation of sugar cane before the launch in 1937 of the legendary brand of the country: Flor de Caña. Many independent bottlers select Nicaraguan Rhums, such as Berry Bros. and Rudd, Transcontinental, The Nectar, Compagnie des Indes... and many others.
