Saint-Martin

By the end of the 19th century, the island of Saint-Martin had no less than twenty sugar cane farms, the last distillery closed in 1915, despite the climate and the favourable terroir for the cultivation of sugar cane, the island of Saint-Martin no longer produces sugar cane. However, two recent brands "Island Cane" and "Rhum Island" claim they hail from the island where the rums of these two brands, produced using sugar canes from neighbouring Guadeloupe, are aged and bottled.
