About LONGUETEAU
Located in Capesterre Sainte-Marie in Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe, the Longueteau family can boast of being the oldest dynasty of rum producers in the world!
It is also the only distillery on the "Papillon Island" to be entirely self-sufficient in sugar cane. The estate, governed by a strict agricultural philosophy, is organized into 12 plots and is mainly planted with red and blue cane varieties, but other varieties (notably yellow cane) are also being tested. In order to monitor each of these plots as closely as possible, no less than eight weather stations are scattered across the estate. After harvest, the sugar cane is distilled in a Creole column still. It is the first Rhum Agricole distillery to have marketed single-varietal plot vintages.
Faithful to tradition, Longueteau does not use ex-Bourbon barrels for the aging of its rums and exclusively uses ex-rum or ex-Cognac barrels.
