Founded on Grande-Terre in Guadeloupe in the 1930s, Domaine de Courcelles produced traditional molasses rums until its first closure in 1964. The then owner, Amédée Huygues Despointes, installed the estate's still at the distillery Saint Martha. Distillery which itself closed its doors in 1972. This final twist marked the definitive closure of the Domaine de Courcelles.

The brand, initially forgotten, gradually resurfaced in the first decade of the 2000s before acquiring cult status among enthusiasts looking for rare pieces!

Unlike many distilleries in Guadeloupe, Domaine de Courcelles produced rum from molasses and not from pure sugar cane juice.
