About J. BALLY
Habitation Lajus, originally made up of a modest sugar factory and a water mill, was born around 1670 in Carbet. It was in 1920 that the destiny of this plantation changed. Jacques Bally, its new owner, then began the production of rum there from a distillation column of his own making. In 1924, he was the first to age his rums in barrels inspired by mainland Cognacs. Now produced at the Saint-James distillery, J.Bally is considered one of the most traditional Rhums Agricole AOC Martinique.
In the 1930s, inspired by the Art Deco movement, Jacques Bally himself designed the plans for the J. Bally pyramid bottle. This exclusive bottle will quickly become the emblem of Rhums J. Bally.
