About FERRONI
In the 19th century, rum was the drink of choice in Marseille and there were more than a hundred rum brands in the city. At that time, Pastis did not yet exist and Marseille was the leading rum port in Europe.
In 2010, Guillaume Ferroni undertook to relight this torch and once again began to age and bring back to life the style of 19th century Marseille's rum. If today most of the world's rum is aged in used American Whiskey barrels, it was not always this way. The barrels used for the maturation of rum in mainland France came from transatlantic transport, they were made of French oak, and were used to export brandies and sweet wines to the Americas. It is these aromas which were the characteristic of 19th century rums that we find in the signature rums of Maison Ferroni!
