Barbade

It was on the island of Barbados that the oldest writings referring to the word "Rhum"Rum" were discovered, which is enough to make it the cradle of sugar cane spirits. After three centuries under British rule, Barbados gained its independence in 1966. Before its industry collapsed during the 19th century, Barbados was primarily a very important producer of Rum, just behind  Jamaica in the 18th century,. Four distilleries are currently active on the island, namely "Mount Gay" (the oldest in the world) "West Indies Rum Distillery", "St. Nicholas Abbey, and finally "Foursquare" that doesn't need an introduction. The rums produced on the island are always of very high quality.
