Founded in 1755 in the south of Jamaica, Monymusk, also known as Clarendon, is one of the oldest distillery on the island. It has carved out an international reputation in particular thanks to the production of rums with a very high ester content. In its early days, it was a sugar factory producing both sugar and rum.

As is often the case with distilleries, it has changed owners many times throughout its history. Until recently, it had never bottled rum under its own name and entrusted its production to merchants and other independent bottlers.
