Zafra is the result of careful selections by the famous Master Blender Don Francisco Fernandez, nicknamed Don Pancho. Born in Cuba in 1936, Don Pancho first worked in the sugar cane fields before completing a doctorate in microbiology. Under the tutelage of Master Blender Ramon Fernandez Corrales, he learned the delicate and complex art of blending Cuban-style rums. In 1998 he decided to settle in Panama where he has since been responsible for the creation of recognized brands such as Abuelo.
