Panama

Production of rum in Panama began even later than its neighbors, only at the beginning of the 20th century, shortly before the inauguration of the canal with the Varela brothers. Nowadays, 3 distilleries are active, the most important of which is still in the hands of the Varela family, which produces, among other things, the brand "Abuelo". The Panamanian rums, distilled in columns, are fine and delicate, heavily inspired by their Cuban cousins.
