Guyane Française

Well known for its penitentiary past, la Guyane never produced much Rhum, except on the eve of the World War I where demand had become important for supplying both France and french military troops. Only one distillery is still in operation today, Saint Maurice in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni which produces Rhum Agricole (made from pure sugar cane juice) and which benefits, like Guadeloupe, from an IG since 2015.
